School Crossing Patrol, Coychurch Road,
We’ve been notified by BCBC that there won’t be a School Crossing Patrol (SCP) outside the school for approximately 2 weeks, March 3 -17, 2014
BCBC also state that the provision of a SCP is a permissive rather than a statutory function, the criteria states that even where a SCP is provided, parents remain responsible for ensuring their children's safety, just as they do when zebra or pelican crossings are provided.
BCBC have contacted the police requesting that if able they can visit the area and assist pedestrians in crossing the road.
Kind hearts at Pencoed Comprehensive School
Pencoed Comprehensive School’s INTERACT Charity Fund Raising Group planned a very successful RED TOP Day on Friday February 7th. Supported by of their fellow pupils in the 6th form, members of the group decided to organise fund raising activities in aid of The British Heart Foundation. Rhian Price, one of the Interact Group members said, ‘Because one of our friends, Chloe Thompson, in the 6th form suffers from a congenital heart disorder we felt very strongly that we should support this particular charity’. £450 was raised through various activities including donations from pupils & staff for the privilege of wearing red tops, sales of badges & other items as well as competitions.
Another very kind hearted 6th former is Jacob Davies. On his own initiative, Jacob planned his own bungee jump last December raising £810 for his friend Liam Davies.

community links are important in Student development...
Pencoed Comprehensive School is a Community Focused School.
We build on close community relationships, whether that is through Friends of Pencoed Comprehensive or through our local senior citizens. We believe that building relationships with our community is very important.
We believe that community links are important for student development and that the community can also benefit from our involvement. We aim to build on close community relationships and initiatives already established as well as develop new links, particularly with local businesses and organisations.
Current school initiatives, either led by ourselves or in partnership with others, include the Senior Citizens Lunchtime Club, Project 1932 with Dr Louisa Evans, The Zone after school childcare club, and Keeping Up With Your Child Classes for parents. With the establishment of the Friends of Pencoed Comprehensive School in April 2011 the aim is to increase existing initiatives such as the regular boot sales held in school.
